Course Overview

Join the A Mark Teacher Roster after successfully completing the 21 Day A Mark Teacher Training Camp on the Junction Board Express. 

By the end of the course, you will have

  • run through Module #1 and 2 of the A Mark IELTS Speaking course
  • received feedback about and uploaded a high quality Watch Me Teach activity
  • earned a spot on the A Mark IELTS Speaking Junction Board and been offered a 3 week teaching contract by A Mark Training Co.

I started teaching A Mark students one week after uploading my professionally produced Watch Me Teach activity.

Course Schedule

Orientation and training sessions are conducted on Saturdays, and observed teaching practice are held on Mondays on Zoom. All times in Vancouver Pacific Time Zone.

The A Mark Teacher Training camp is 21 days in length. You prepare for and attend all of the training sessions.

Session Descriptions

The course includes media production consultation and Watch Me Teach video production. See Session #8 below.

The A Mark Teacher Training Camp contains

  • nine training/feedback sessions (15 min via Zoom)
  • two observed teaching practice sessions (30 min via Zoom)

Session #1: Orientation and Introduction (15 min via Zoom)

In this session, you are introduced to the A Mark IELTS Speaking Course and where to access student lessons and teacher notes for classes.

Week 1 Saturday with A Mark Head Teacher (15 min).

Session #1 Information

Teachers are expected to prepare and fill out a feedback request form prior to attending live sessions with A Mark staff and trainers.

PrepareCreate a free account on the PFT website and familiarize yourself with the A Mark IELTS Speaking Course. Complete the Pre-Course Task checklist from A Mark Training Co.

TrainUse the English Junction Press Teacher Check-In to meet the A Mark Head Teaching Staff for Session #1. Session outline is found in the Junction Room.

Session #2: Teaching Practice Preparation (15 min via Zoom)

In this session, you get ready to teach your first observed live class with a student that A Mark arranges for you.

Unassessed Observed Teaching Practice #1 (30 min via Zoom)

You teach Live Class #1 of the A Mark IELTS Speaking Course with the A Mark 30 Live Class format.

Week 2 Monday with A Mark Teaching Practice Student and A Mark Director of Studies (30 min).
Unassessed Teaching Practice #1 Information

A Mark makes sure that your practice student is prepared before class.

In this session, you receive feedback about the live class that you have just taught.

Week 2 Monday with A Mark Director of Studies (30 min).

Session #4 Information

The local A Mark Director of Studies helps you reflect on the class and provides advice about how to prepare for the next class.

PrepareRead the Checkpoint Survey and prepare to fill it out after the feedback session.
FeedbackSubmit the Checkpoint Survey on the PFT website.
TrainAsk and answer questions about the Module #1: Watch Me Teach on the PFT website.

Session #5: Watch Me Teach Feedback (15 min via Zoom)

In this session, you get feedback about the Watch Me Teach activity that you have prepared by the completion of Module #1 of the PFT Binder.

Week 3 Saturday with A Mark Head Teacher (15 min).

Session #5 Information

Teachers are expected to prepare and fill out a feedback request form prior to attending live sessions with A Mark staff and trainers.

PrepareComplete and submit every lesson in Module #1: Watch Me Teach in the PFT Binder.
FeedbackSubmit your PFT Activity along with questions that you have on the A Mark Website.
TrainUse the Module #1 Train Page with the PFT assessment sheet during the live session with the A Mark Director of Studies.

Session #6: Teaching Practice Preparation (15 min via Zoom)

In this session, you get ready to teach your second observed live class with a student that A Mark arranges for you.

Assessed Observed Teaching Practice #2 (30 min via Zoom)

You teach Live Class #2 of the A Mark IELTS Speaking Course with the A Mark 30 Live Class format.

Week 3 Monday with A Mark Teaching Practice Student and A Mark Director of Studies (30 min).
Assessed Teaching Practice #2 Information

A Mark makes sure that your practice student is prepared before class.

Session #7: Assessment Feedback about Teaching Practice (15 min via Zoom)

In this session, you receive assessment feedback about the live class that you have just taught.

Week 3 Monday with A Mark Director of Studies (30 min).

Session #7 Information

The local A Mark Director provides assessment feedback about the class just taught.

PrepareMake a list of 3 things that you would like to clarify with the A Mark Director of Studies about your teaching practice.
FeedbackFill out the teacher survey about what kind of classes you would like to teach after the first three week teaching contract.
TrainDiscuss how you can promote yourself as an ESL teacher with the A Mark Director of Studies.

Session #8: Video Production Preparation (15 min via Zoom)

Week 3 Tuesday with Felt Top Media Coach/Guide (15 min)

In this session, you get expert advice about what to expect in the studio and how to prepare.

Video Capture (30 to 60 min --- On location)

A Mark arranges a filming session with a local studio (Vancouver, BC). You memorize and rehearse your Watch Me Teach video scripts before you arrive at the studio. Sound, lighting, make up and professional videography included in course package.

Session #9: Course Finish (15 min via Zoom)

In this final session, you meet the A Mark Head Teacher to confirm your Watch Me Teach upload to the PFT website. You also receive instructions for how and when you start teaching your first 3 week course to IELTS Speaking students who are preparing with the A Mark IELTS Speaking Course.
